I Don’t Want to Be an Expert. I Just Want to Be Consistent.

At almost 45 years of age, I feel like I have to start over in life. Honestly, that can feel overwhelming at times, especially since I feel like I should have all the answers by now. Adults are the experts, right?

Here’s the secret no one really says out loud: no one is an expert at life. No one. But here’s the part they also don’t tell you: if you show up consistently and with purpose, you will make it through this life.

Consistency doesn’t necessarily mean every day. It means regularly—every other day, once a week, whenever you can remember. If you need a sticky note or a calendar reminder, then use it. (I know, easier said than done.) For instance, I’ve set a goal to write a blog post every other week. I missed several weeks, which wasn’t consistent. So I added a calendar event to help me stick to it. I also had to learn not to beat myself up over it, no one is perfect.

Purpose is harder for me to talk about right now, especially after the past few years. I won’t say too much on this, other than that being consistent in my daily actions is helping me heal and find purpose again.
